Mouse Sensitivity Test
Measure the real DPI of your mouse in the browser. Move the mouse a known distance and the tester counts what the sensor reports.
Put a ruler next to your mouse. Click the box, move the mouse to the right by exactly the distance above, then click again to stop. Press Esc to cancel.

Change mouse sensitivity in Windows 11
- 1
Open Settings
Press Windows + I, or open Start and select Settings.
- 2
Go to the mouse page
Select Bluetooth & devices, then Mouse.
- 3
Move the slider
Drag Mouse pointer speed left for slower or right for faster. The change applies straight away. The default is the middle of the slider.
- 4
Turn off acceleration (optional)
Select Additional mouse settings, open the Pointer Options tab and untick Enhance pointer precision. Your cursor then moves the same distance for the same hand movement, whatever the speed.
Change mouse sensitivity in Windows 10
- 1
Open Settings
Press Windows + I, or open Start and select Settings.
- 2
Go to the mouse page
Select Devices, then Mouse.
- 3
Move the slider
Drag Cursor speed left for slower or right for faster.
- 4
Turn off acceleration (optional)
Select Additional mouse options, open Pointer Options and untick Enhance pointer precision.
Change mouse sensitivity in macOS
- 1
Open System Settings
Choose the Apple menu, then System Settings. On older macOS versions it is called System Preferences.
- 2
Select Mouse or Trackpad
Pick Mouse in the sidebar for a mouse, or Trackpad for the built-in trackpad.
- 3
Move the slider
Drag Tracking speed left for slower or right for faster. The change applies straight away.
Change sensitivity with mouse DPI
- 1
Use the DPI button
Many gaming mice have a button behind the scroll wheel that cycles through DPI levels such as 400, 800 and 1600.
- 2
Or use the mouse software
The maker’s app (for example Logitech G HUB or Razer Synapse) lets you set an exact DPI value.
- 3
Check the result
Use the tester on this page to confirm the DPI your mouse really sends.
Mouse sensitivity in games
Games set their own sensitivity and usually ignore the desktop slider. What you feel in game is your mouse DPI multiplied by the in-game sensitivity, and the clearest way to describe it is the distance your mouse travels for one full turn, called cm/360.
If you play more than one game, convert instead of guessing. The sens converter gives every game the same cm/360, the DPI calculator keeps your aim when you change DPI, and the cm/360 calculator shows your current distance.
Mouse Sensitivity Test FAQ
What is mouse sensitivity?
Mouse sensitivity is how far the cursor or camera moves for a given hand movement. It is set by two things: the DPI of the mouse (counts sent per inch) and the speed setting in your operating system or game.
Does Windows pointer speed change my sensitivity in games?
Most modern shooters read raw mouse input and ignore the Windows slider. Change sensitivity inside the game instead. To carry your aim between games, use the sens converter.
Should I turn off Enhance pointer precision?
For gaming, usually yes. It is mouse acceleration: fast movements travel further than slow ones, which makes aim less consistent. With it off, the same hand movement always gives the same cursor movement.
How accurate is the mouse sensitivity tester?
In Chrome or Edge on desktop it reads raw sensor counts, so the result is the real DPI within a few percent. The main source of error is the distance you move, so repeat the test and average it.
Is higher DPI better?
Not by itself. In games what matters is DPI multiplied by sensitivity. Pick a DPI you like on the desktop, often 800 or 1600, then set the in-game sensitivity to match. The DPI calculator keeps your aim the same if you change DPI.
